Copy trading is legitimate. Copy trading scams are also real, and they borrow the language of the real thing — "experts", "signals", "account managers", "AI". Most follow the same handful of patterns. Learn these nine warning signs and you will recognise almost all of them.
1. Guaranteed or fixed returns
"2% a day", "30% a month, guaranteed". No trading strategy can promise a fixed return, because markets do not. A guarantee is the clearest sign of fraud.
2. "Send the money to me and I'll trade it"
A real copy service never needs your trading money. Your money should sit in your own account at a regulated broker. Anyone who asks you to send funds to a personal wallet or account to "trade for you" is not copy trading.
3. Asking for your password
Requests for your broker password, MT5 password or email login — especially by chat — are a red flag. For our package we only need your MT5 login number; we never ask for the password unless you choose our optional VPS, and then only inside your signed-in account.
4. Payments through Telegram, WhatsApp or DMs
Legitimate services take payments on their own website, inside your account. CopyTradingSystem takes payments only on this website. We never ask for money by Telegram, WhatsApp, email, phone or social media.
5. Pressure and urgency
"Only today", "last three places", "deposit more to unlock your profits". Pressure is designed to stop you from checking.
6. Withdrawal "fees" and "taxes"
A classic pattern: the dashboard shows large profits, but to withdraw you must first pay a "tax", "unlock fee" or "verification deposit". Real platforms deduct fees from the balance; they do not ask for new money.
7. Cloned websites and fake apps
Scammers copy real brands with near-identical domains. Always type the address yourself and check it — ours is copytradingsystem.com.
8. Fake Expert Advisors
An EA can trade your account. Only install one downloaded from inside the service you are actually using. "Free leaked EAs" can contain anything.
9. Results that cannot be checked
Screenshots, testimonials and lifestyle photos are not a track record. Ask for independently verified results over many months.
Fraud is a separate risk from the market risk every trader carries: even with a real, honest service, trading can lose money. A scam adds the risk of losing everything you send, with no trade ever placed.
How to protect yourself
- Keep your money at a regulated broker in your own name.
- Check the broker on the regulator's register (how, by country).
- Never share passwords or one-time codes.
- Pay only inside the official website.
- Read the Terms before paying — the fee, the rules and the refund should be in writing.
If someone contacts you claiming to be CopyTradingSystem and asks for money or passwords anywhere outside this website, do not pay — tell us through the Help Center.
What to do if you have been scammed
- Stop sending money, even if promised a refund for "one last fee".
- Report it to your bank or payment provider immediately, and to the police.
- Report it to your financial regulator.
- Beware of "recovery services" that promise to get your money back for a fee — often the same scammers.
A typical scam conversation
It often begins with a friendly message: someone "found your profile", or was "added to the wrong group". After some days of chat, they mention a relative or mentor who makes steady profits with a trading platform or an "AI copy trading" system. They send a link to a professional-looking site. You deposit a small amount and the dashboard shows rapid gains. You are encouraged to add more. When you try to withdraw, there is a "tax", a "verification deposit" or an "account upgrade" to pay first. Every payment unlocks another. The site never pays out.
Every step of that story is a warning sign: an unsolicited contact, a platform you cannot verify, profits you cannot withdraw, and new payments to release your own money.
Impersonation: when someone pretends to be us
Scammers sometimes copy a real brand's name and logo on Telegram, WhatsApp or social media. Remember: we take payments only on copytradingsystem.com, inside your signed-in account; our support works through the Help Center; and any official Telegram link appears on our website itself. We will never message you first asking for money, a password or a sign-in code.

Frequently asked questions
Is copy trading a scam?
No. Copy trading is a widely used method offered by regulated brokers. Scams imitate it; the warning signs above tell them apart.
How can I check whether a copy trading service is legit?
Check who holds your money, whether the broker is regulated, whether the terms are published, and whether any return is promised. A promise of profit rules it out.
Does CopyTradingSystem have a Telegram group?
Any official Telegram link appears only on our website. We never take payments or passwords there.
